The Neighbourhood Plan recognises that climate change presents one of the greatest long-term challenges facing communities everywhere. Glastonbury aims to become a more sustainable, resilient and low-carbon town.
To support the transition to a low-carbon economy and reduce the environmental impact of future development.
Climate change affects every aspect of daily life, from energy use and transport to flooding and environmental resilience. Responding now can help reduce future risks whilst creating a healthier and more sustainable community.
The Plan seeks to:
A town that produces less carbon, uses energy more efficiently, and is better prepared for future environmental and economic challenges.
The Glastonbury Neighbourhood Plan sets out a community-led vision for how the town should grow and develop between now and 2040.
Protecting green spaces, biodiversity, trees, orchards, and wildlife habitats.
Supporting renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions, and encouraging sustainable travel.
Supporting local businesses, tourism, enterprise, and town centre vitality.
Consultation period for the plan runs from Monday 22nd June to Sunday 5th August 2026.
