Glastonbury Charter Market

Glastonbury’s Charter Market, established in 1189 by Royal Charter, is one of the oldest and most vibrant markets in the UK. It offers a unique opportunity to explore and purchase a wide range of local goods, from fresh produce to handmade crafts and artisan products. Located in the heart of the historic town of Glastonbury, the market has long been a hub for both locals and tourists.

As of 1 April 2025, the market is now under the management of Glastonbury Town Council, following a devolution deal aimed at enhancing local services. This shift is part of a broader effort to give the community more control over its services and to ensure the market thrives for future generations. With the town council’s stewardship, the Glastonbury Charter Market is set to continue its tradition of supporting local businesses while promoting the town’s rich history and cultural heritage.

Glastonbury’s Charter  Market is held in St Dunstan’s Car Park and the town centre every Tuesday.
