Melissa Taylor

Climate Emergency and Resilience Officer

The position of Climate Emergency & Resilience Officer was created by Glastonbury Town Council following its declaration of a climate emergency, and I was appointed to the role in January 2021. I support the Council in its work to reduce carbon emissions and build greater resilience across its operations and the wider community.

My work includes developing the Town Council’s carbon footprint and action plan, with the aim of making Council operations carbon neutral by 2030, as well as reporting and presenting progress to the Council and the wider community. I also coordinate community events and open days, co-clerk the Resilience Committee and the Climate & Ecological Emergency Advisory Committee, and have been involved in drafting the Council’s Emergency Response and Resilience Plan. In addition, I support the Council in working more cooperatively with the community following its membership of the Co-operative Councils Innovation Network.

I moved to Glastonbury in 2018 and love living and working in this vibrant and diverse community.
