This is a high-profile and rewarding leadership role at the heart of Glastonbury — one of the UK’s most distinctive and internationally recognised visitor destinations. The post holder will play a central role in shaping how thousands of visitors experience the Town each year, helping to bring Glastonbury’s rich heritage, creativity, and community spirit to life.
The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management and retail operation of both the Glastonbury Information Centre and the historic Tribunal building. This includes overseeing a busy and welcoming general information service, ensuring accurate, engaging, and inspiring information is available for all enquiries; sourcing high-quality retail products; and actively driving income generation in a bustling tourist environment.
You will use your IT skills to ensure smooth operation of both sites and contribute toward updating and manage the Glastonbury Information Centre website, keeping content fresh, relevant, and attractive to visitors. Strong communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to build positive working relationships with other visitor attractions, cultural organisations, and businesses across the Town to create a joined-up visitor offer.
A key and exciting element of the role is the continued development of the Tribunal building as a vibrant cultural and events space. The post holder will help shape and grow a programme of exhibitions, talks, and events, enhancing the museum offer while responding to the Town’s evolving cultural identity and visitor demand.
Working closely with the Town Council’s Arts, Culture and Events (ACE) Committee, you will actively contribute to the planning, delivery, and promotion of cultural initiatives, festivals, and town-wide events. You will be a visible and engaged presence within the Town, building strong relationships with partners, artists, community groups, and stakeholders to help raise Glastonbury’s profile as a welcoming, creative, and high-quality destination.
This is a key role, responsible for managing and delivering the aims and objectives of the Town Council’s tourism and information service, while ensuring an outstanding visitor experience in a lively and fast-paced tourist town. Flexibility is essential, as the role will include weekend working and evening events, supporting a varied and exciting programme throughout the year.
As a hands-on person who leads from the front, you will head up a small, passionate team of paid staff and volunteers. You will train, inspire, and motivate your team to deliver consistently high standards of customer service, storytelling, and engagement. You will be responsible for staff rotas and the smooth day-to-day operation of both the Information Centre and the Tribunal building.
The Team Leader will guide the front-of-house team to ensure that every visitor receives a warm welcome and leaves with a positive, memorable impression of Glastonbury. You will contribute to delivering the Town Council’s wider strategic objectives and take responsibility for managing an annual budget; increasing visitor numbers to both buildings; growing associated income; and overseeing the development and delivery of a dynamic, engaging, and diverse public events and exhibition programme across both sites.
