Platinum Jubilee Full Schedule

‘Avalon of The Heart’ Platinum Jubilee Long Weekend Schedule – 2nd to 5th June 2022

 

Thursday, 2nd June

12 noon         St. John’s Church – The Flames of Avalon coming together to create the ‘Sovereign Flame’

2 pm              The Market Cross – The Town Crier cries the official ‘Platinum Jubilee Beacon’ announcement

8 pm              The Fairfield (at the base of the Tor) – Civic Party with the assemble before processing up the Tor to arrive at the summit ‘Sovereign

9:10 pm         The summit of Glastonbury Tor – The Town Crier cries the official ‘Platinum Jubilee Beacon’ announcement

9:15 pm         The summit of Glastonbury Tor – The Piper pays the “Diu Regnare” especially written for this historic Jubilee by Piper Stuart Liddell, 2020 Glenfiddich Champion and Pipe Major of the World Champion Pipe Band, Inveraray and District

9:20 pm         The summit of Glastonbury Tor – Bugler performs Jubilee fanfare

9:25 pm         The summit of Glastonbury Tor – The ‘Sovereign Flame’ is brought to the Beacon, where it is Blessed by the Vicar of St. John’s Prebendary and Archdruid of Avalon

9:30 pm         The summit of Glastonbury Tor – The Beacon is lit by the Vicar and Archdruid, followed by God Save The Queen and Jerusalem.

 

Friday, 3rd June

12:50 pm       St. Dunstan’s House, Garden – The Civic Party gather in the garden of St. Dunstan’s House (Glastonbury Information Centre) prior to the ‘Platinum Jubilee Pageant Procession’

1 pm-ish        Glastonbury High Street – Civic Party leave St. Dunstan’s House to informally walk to the top of the High Street

1:30 pm         Glastonbury High Street – Road Closure

1:45 pm         ‘Top’ of the High Street – people involved in the ‘Platinum Jubilee Pageant Procession’ assemble at the ‘top’ of the High Street and line up ready to process.

2 pm              From ‘top’ of the High Street into Magdalene Street and then into Glastonbury Abbey – Procession

3 pm              Glastonbury Abbey – Glastonbury Brass perform in the Abbey as the ‘Platinum Jubilee Pageant Procession’ arrives

Glastonbury Abbey – Children’s’ activities are happening throughout the afternoon from 3 pm onwards

3:30 pm         Glastonbury Abbey – performance of the St. George Mummers Play

4 pm              Glastonbury Abbey – Glastonbury Brass perform their second set

6 pm              Glastonbury Abbey – Abbey closes.

 

Saturday, 4th June

12:30 pm       Abbot’s Kitchen, Glastonbury Abbey – recreation of the scene from Alice Buckton’s movie ‘Glastonbury Past and Present’, where Joseph of Arimathea meets the Druids

6 pm              Cress Field, Chalice Well – readings from Alice Buckton’s personal copies of the first edition of her books to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her ‘Glastonbury Past and Present’ Pageant and Film

 

Sunday, 5th June

9:30 am         St. John’s Church – the church is open for people involved in the procession to leave their picnic lunches, change of clothes, etc.

10 am            St. Dunstan’s House, Garden – The Civic Party gather in the garden of St. Dunstan’s House (Glastonbury Information Centre) prior to the ‘Platinum Jubilee Parade’

10:30 am       High Street and part of Magdalene Street – Road Closure begins.

Outside Glastonbury Town Hall, Magdalene Street – the people taking part in the ‘Platinum Jubilee Parade’ assemble

10:45 am       High Street – the Civic Party parade to St. John’s Church

11 am            St. John’s Church – Civic Party arrive and process into the Church for the Platinum Jubilee Service

11:10 am       High Street – Glastonbury Town Hall staff put out tables and chairs for the ‘Platinum Jubilee Street Party and Big Lunch’

12 noon         High Street – people involved in the Platinum Jubilee Service in St. John’s Church leave join others who have gathered to take part in the ‘Big Lunch’ Street Party

4 pm              High Street and part of Magdalene Street – Road closure ends
