
Glastonbury Information Centre are looking for a results-driven Information Centre Manager to be responsible for the overall management of both our information service and our retail outlet.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of Glastonbury as a tourist and pilgrimage destination and be able to enhance customer satisfaction, meet sales and profitability goals, and manage volunteers and staff effectively.
This is a full-time role of 37 hours per week, based in the Glastonbury Information Centre and will require some weekend and bank holiday working.

Under the direction of the Glastonbury Information Centre Management Board the Centre Manager will be responsible for:
a) The post has been fully funded for one year. The successful applicant is expected to create additional income streams to ensure continuity of the position beyond that period.
b) The post holder will need to work flexibly, according to need, this will include some weekends
c) Identifying new projects and income streams that attract external funding which increase turnover and profit. Expanding the existing activities of the Centre to maximise income generation and profit. Completing the necessary application forms to apply for the funding for new projects.
d) Managing the employed staff and volunteers, ensuring that there is adequate staff cover for each day that the Centre is open. Ensuring accurate recording of hours worked and organising holiday calendar and cover for holidays and sickness.
e) Managing the training of staff and volunteers and carrying out induction new staff and volunteers.
f) Creating a unified team working well together to high standards and leading the changes needed to create a welcoming, visitor/pilgrim responsive ethos and culture.
g) Managing the stock, determining the margins and monitoring sales as required. Organising regular stock taking. Researching new stock lines. Negotiating with suppliers.
h) Handling of monies received daily through the sale of goods in the Information Centre. Monitoring of the income and expenditure of the Centre and presenting budgets and forecasts to the GIC Board as required. Programming the till. Overseeing the daily and weekly banking process. Knowledge of VAT and the recording of sales necessary.
i) Supervising the cleaning of the Centre and overseeing any necessary maintenance of the Centre. Making sure that all equipment is kept in good working order.
j) Being located in the Information Centre, the successful applicant will be expected to provide support and share knowledge with visitors and local residents as required.
k) Overseeing the website and online sales. Investigating possible increased income streams through the website.
l) Liaison with the tourist attractions, businesses and accommodation providers in the town.
