In December, Mrs Annie Maw, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, attended the cutting of the Holy Thorn at St John’s church. After this formal event a tree was planted in the vicinity of the entrance to St Dunstan’s car park to commemorate the Queen Elizabeth II platinum jubilee.
