Notice of Election – Glastonbury St Benedict’s Ward

Notice is hereby given that:

1. An election is to be held for a Town Councillor for the St Benedict Ward of the Parish of Glastonbury.

2. Nomination papers are to be delivered to the Returning Officer, Mendip Council Offices, Asham,
Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm on any day
after the date of this notice but no later than 4pm on Thursday 8 April 2021. Please email the Returning
Officer on elections@mendip.gov.uk to advise of the date and time that you intend to deliver the
nomination papers.

3. Forms of nomination papers may be obtained at the Election Office, Mendip District Council, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT from the undersigned, who will, at the request of any elector for the said Ward, prepare a nomination paper for signature.

4. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on THURSDAY 6 MAY 2021

5. New applications to register to vote at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the
Election Office, Mendip Council Offices, Cannards Grave Road Shepton Mallet by midnight on Monday
19 April 2021. Applications can be made online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

6. Electors and their proxies should take note that applications for new postal votes, or cancellation of, or changes to existing applications, to be treated as an absent voter, for example different address for the
ballot paper to be sent, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Election Office, Mendip District
Council, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by 5 pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021, if they are
to be effective for this election.

7. Electors and their proxies should also note that applications for new proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Election Office, Mendip District Council, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by 5pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021.

8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for
work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Election Office, Mendip District Council, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by 5pm on Thursday 6 May 2021. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021. To apply on the grounds of
work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person
after 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021.
